The red fluorescent protein tdTomato is a dimer formed by the tandem expression of two mCherry monomers, specifically designed to reduce protein aggregation. tdTomato exhibits stronger fluorescence than mCherry and has lower toxicity to cells/mice, etc., making it more commonly used in in vivo experiments.
