XMJ Successfully Holds Offline Seminar on the Theme of Biologics Quality Control

From August 20 to 21, 2024, XMJ?(Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Cygnus and ZF?Biotech, hosted two seminars themed "Biologics Quality Control" in Suzhou and Shanghai respectively.

The seminars invited John Locklear, Senior Technical Manager of Cygnus, and Dr. Fang Weijie, Researcher from Zhejiang University, as guest speakers. They jointly elaborated on the detection methods and latest research progress related to the quality control of protein-based biologics, and shared successful experiences and practical cases, covering aspects such as?process-related and drug-related HCPs (Host Cell Proteins) characterization and analysis,?bridging strategies for two HCP analysis methods,?application of Capillary Gel Electrophoresis (CE-SDS), and?new detection methods for Protein A and Protein L residuals. The seminars attracted many experts from the biopharmaceutical industry; attendees actively communicated and discussed during the events, creating a lively atmosphere.

First, Ms. Fang Haoxia, General Manager of XMJ, delivered an opening speech. She introduced the guest speakers and the themes of the presentations, expressed sincere gratitude to all supporting organizations and the attending experts, and announced the official start of the seminars.


Next, Manager John from Cygnus (USA) delivered three consecutive presentations, with topics titled?"Advanced Analytical Methods AAE?/AAE-MS? for Comprehensive Analysis of Process-Related HCPs",?"Bridging Strategies and Guidance for Smooth Transition Between Two HCP Analytical Methods", and?"Introduction to Protein A & Protein L Mix-N-Go? ELISA Kits". He presented abundant data and detailed technical details, and elaborated on the topics of greatest concern to the audience—such as HCP characterization and analysis, HCP antibody applicability verification, global filing and regulatory requirements, and ELISA bridging strategies—providing solutions to many practical problems encountered in current applications.


Dr. Fang Weijie, a researcher from Zhejiang University, gave a presentation themed "Application and Progress of Capillary Gel Electrophoresis in the Analysis of Protein-Based Biologics". Combining specific cases and experimental data, he delivered a detailed report on three aspects of CE-SDS: its application in the purity analysis of recombinant proteins under non-reducing conditions, its use in the heterogeneity analysis of monoclonal antibody heavy chains and light chains under reducing conditions, and its application and research progress in the analysis of small protein and peptide-based biologics. This presentation provides broader insights for the application of the CE-SDS method in biologics quality control.
